The terms that apply when learners and parents use Rookwise.

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Rookwise website and the Rookwise application, together with any related features and content (the "Service"). Rookwise is operated by ROOKWISE AI (PTY) LTD, a company registered in South Africa (Registration number: 2026/521856/07). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity that takes place under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
Accounts are for individual use. You may not share, sell or transfer an account, and you may not allow others to use your account to bypass usage limits.
Rookwise is designed for school learners in Grades 4 to 12, many of whom are under 18. We encourage parents and guardians to be actively involved in a minor learner's use of the Service. Where applicable South African law requires parental or guardian consent, Rookwise may require consent or verification from a parent or guardian, and the parent or guardian who consents accepts these terms on the learner's behalf and is responsible for the learner's use of the Service and for any fees payable.
A parent or guardian may link a parent account to a learner account to view learning activity and progress, and may request that the learner's account be suspended or deleted.
Rookwise provides AI-supported learning assistance aligned to the South African CAPS curriculum, including explanations, homework guidance, quizzes, flashcards, revision tools and progress information, in English and Afrikaans.
Rookwise is additional learning support. It does not replace a teacher, a school, a tutor or professional advice, and we do not guarantee any particular academic result.
Responses in the Service are generated using artificial intelligence. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, and may not always match a specific school's teaching or marking approach. Learners should check important information against their textbooks, teachers and official curriculum material.
The Service is intended to help learners understand their work. Submitting AI-generated content as your own where your school does not allow it may breach your school's rules, and you are responsible for complying with those rules.

We may remove content or restrict access where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached.
Each plan includes a level of access appropriate to normal individual study. We may apply reasonable usage limits, rate limits or other technical controls to keep the Service available and affordable for everyone, and we may limit, suspend or adjust access where usage is excessive, automated, shared across multiple people or otherwise inconsistent with normal individual use.
Rookwise currently offers the following plans:
Paid plans are billed in South African rand in advance on a recurring monthly basis until cancelled, using the payment method you provide. Payments are processed by our payment provider, and the provider's terms apply to the payment transaction itself.
We may change our prices or the features included in a plan. Where a change affects an existing subscription, we will give reasonable notice before it takes effect, and you may cancel if you do not accept the change.
You may cancel a paid plan at any time from your account. Cancellation stops future billing, and access to paid features continues until the end of the current paid period.
Refunds are handled in accordance with applicable South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act where these apply, and in accordance with the terms of the relevant payment or subscription provider. Rookwise, including the platform, the Rook character, our name, logo, design and content, is owned by Rookwise or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the Service for your own learning.
You keep ownership of the content you submit, such as questions, notes, images or voice input. You grant us a limited licence to process, store and display that content only to the extent reasonably necessary to provide, operate, secure, maintain and improve the Service. Rookwise does not claim ownership of learner-submitted questions, notes, photographs, images, voice input or other user content.
We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but it is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Access may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, technical issues or reasons outside our control. We may add, change, limit or discontinue features, and we will give reasonable notice of material changes where practical.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rookwise is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, loss of data, loss of profits, or for academic results, decisions or actions taken in reliance on AI-generated content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited or excluded under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account where these terms are breached, where use of the Service poses a security, safety or legal risk, or where payment for a paid plan fails. Where reasonable, we will let you know and give you a chance to resolve the issue first.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from your use of the Service.
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date below and, where appropriate, notify users through the Service or by email. Continued use of Rookwise after an update means you accept the revised terms.
